Hey, πŸ‘‹ I am one of the 25% of the population that has a mood disorder. This means I am competent and valid 100% of the time but which activities I excel at and struggle with change depending on my state. This happens even when a mood disorder is effectively managed with diet, sleep, and medication. My highs and lows are more noticeable which might be confusing for neurotypical folks to anticipate. To help you know where I'm at, I'm using this system in my slack status to manage expectations and normalise mental health in the workplace. I'll always respect where you're at too.

So what do the icons mean?

Today I'm good at leading meetings, being a cheerleader, bouncing ideas off of and social activities. My brain is buzzing. Anything we get excited about, I might have trouble following up if it's more than a week away. It's best to communicate with me via calls and voice messages.
Today is a balanced day, I'm ambidextrous mentally. There's neither too much nor too little energy and adrenaline.
Today I'm good at quiet tasks - admin, creating presentations, listening to people talk and being thoughtful. My mic and camera are likely to be off but I'm just as interested in the content and I can still do 1-2-1s if you need one. It's best to communicate with me via text.
πŸ€’ πŸ€• 😡This system purposefully doesn't feature an icon for 'lower than low', or 'no energy' - let's normalise taking sick days in these cases and if you're there now - I hope you take care and feel better soon.

How about pin badges?
